Even a rumor or I prefer called it as a legend, believe that it was worn by those in the throne as Spanish and French royalty. In 20th century, it was belong to the Maharajah of Indore which finally ended up in the hand of Harry Winston. Later, Winston sold it to the Mrs. Cora Hubbard Williams. And she donated it to the Smithsonian in 1972. The emeralds itself are mostly found in the crystal beryl.

But later, it was discovered in Columbia and later it becomes the “gold standard” of emeralds. One interesting thing is that Colombian emerald is considered as the rarest of gemstones and it is very expensive. Though it is true or not that this diamond gem has been the part of Spanish Inquisition, the clear fact is that everybody wants to have it as their most precious thing.
