Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is an anti virus that was released by microsoft recently. The good news is Microsoft Security Essentials can be downloaded for free. MSE of course is intended only for those users of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Microsoft Security Essentials is available for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 or next windows 8 (32 or 64 bit)
This anti-virus provides updates every day to stay protected from the latest threats from viruses, spyware and other malicious programs. but there is no firewall, back-up capabilities or spam filters, but MSE still provides protection from viruses, Trojans, spyware and rootkits.
Microsoft has said it isn't out to steal business from companies like McAfee Inc. and Symantec Corp., which make popular antivirus programs with more features. Microsoft says it hopes the free program will appeal to people who don't already run antivirus software.
Other commercial security software suppliers claim they are not concerned by Microsoft's move because free software does not have the support that the more important business market requires.
