Russia Warn Tsunami After Chile Earthquake - Chile quaqe 2010

The death toll from the earthquake SR 8.8 that shook Chile, on Saturday 27 / 2/2010 , is reported to have reached 300 people. This was conveyed Chilean National Emergency Office, as reported by Reuters on Sunday (28 / 2).

Meanwhile Russia warned that the tsunami would hit the two-meter area in the far east, the Kuril Islands, at 0400 GMT, following a massive earthquake in Chile, said the news agency, RIA Novosti.

News agency reported quoting Shakalin Tsunami warning center. Dozens of people have been evacuated from their homes along the coast of the Kuril Islands, the report said, citing local officials.

Most of the archipelago's population living in the highlands, the same official said. Three-meter-high tsunami was also reportedly expected to hit the Australian coast. Meanwhile, Japan also had to evacuate residents beach.

Australian Bureau of Meteorology had issued a threat of a tsunami warning in the State of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
